What is the soul?

I’ve been pondering this question a lot lately. Prior to my spiritual awakening experiences after my dad’s death, I would have answered this question with the idea that our soul is the part of ourselves that is our personality. For example, I am extremely empathetic, and I considered that a part of my soul.

I am coming to see the soul as something more unifying than separating. Personality characteristics define us as separate from one another. They are a part of our labels. Nice, generous, grumpy, or neurotic – these are characteristics that I believe we have taken on due to our life experiences, past and present, but they are not at all our essence.

Knowing one’s soul is to know the part of you with its deepest roots in love and life purpose. For example, I am traveler and of course this is founded in love and the desire to know and appreciate the Earth and all its people. Yet, it is not that being a traveler is my soul. As souls, we already are all travelers, carrying within our spiritual selves a love for our Earth home and all its humans because our soul knows that we are all the same Light. Rather, traveling is the vehicle that has allowed me to grow my soul’s essence, which is to build bridges between people and cultures, and now, the seen and the unseen.

I am Light. You are Light. It is the same Light. We differentiate from each other only by how our Light (or soul) will express its Love through purpose. Find your spirit’s strongest desire to bring Love to the world, and there you will find your soul.

About my Nature's Way journey

IMG-7484.jpg

On Nov 1, 2020, my dad moved from this world to the next. He was a fun-loving man who always could have a good laugh under any circumstance (he laughed his way through his final days), an avid outdoorsman and lover of nature, and he was known for his physical strength and bravery, not to mention his voice. He was my perfectly imperfect Dad. In a way, his death was a two year journey experienced together that continues. Twelve hours before my dad passed away, I experienced an inexplicable force of nature while holding his hand.

After he passed, Dad began to use nature to open me up to a greater reality, helped me to understand my true nature, and is leading me to walk through life filled with love, joy, and peace, unafraid to speak my truth.

I like to say that Dad was led home, and me open. Open to Divine love, full presence to life, and connecting to those in the world just beyond ours. From beyond the veil, my dad has led me on a completely unexpected transformational journey to my inner Light, and I share that journey here.
