My spiritual journey guided by Dad took on a new aspect when, during a kindness meditation, I unexpectedly connected with a former colleague with whom I worked over a decade ago and had recently passed away.
In my kindness meditation, I was saying in my heart space the names of many people I knew and simply wishing them peace and well-being. I had just heard a couple of weeks prior that this former colleague had passed from cancer. In my heart space, I wished him well by name, and I instantly heard his actual voice in my mind say, "And don't forget Heather too." With that, I just had a knowing that Heather was his wife. I did know that he was married, but I did not know his wife's name nor had I ever met her.
He continued with a message for his wife I had never met, sharing an intimate detail about them as a couple, and then wanted her to know "I'm sorry I had to leave you so soon but I'm fine and I want you to know it's beautiful here." I asked him to show me something about himself that I could not possibly know, so that I could verify this was really him. He showed me his favorite snack- eating potato chips with baked beans. He also showed me a little tiny dog that he had and gave me the name, "Penny."
I had never spent personal time with this man and knew that I couldn't possibly know about his favorite snack or if he even had a dog, let alone it's size and name. The only way I could find out if this connection was as real as I thought it was, was by reaching out to his wife.
I knew I didn't know her name, but when I learned her name was indeed Heather, it felt both like the first confirmation of the realness of my connection with my former colleague but also my brain wondered if somehow her name was in the very back of my memory and I was just unaware. I gathered up the courage to reach out to her and decided I would just tell her the truth - that I was experiencing connections with my dad after he passed and that I believed I experienced a connection with her husband.
She was so grateful I had reached out, and she also verified not only the intimate detail about them as a couple, but that indeed, his favorite snack was eating potato chips with baked beans! She also shared they did have a little dog that was so comforting to him as he passed from cancer, but the dog's name was Lucy, not Penny. However, that's awfully close isn't it!
This is when I knew that mediumship was real and not a result of somehow tricking oneself into believing communication beyond time and space is possible.
As a result of all of my experiences, I have acquired a new favorite quote:
“Instead of making up excuses for why something is impossible, it’s far better to come up with reasons why it could be possible. One reason why is more powerful than all the reasons why not.”
